NOTICE: In-Bond IPI Reporting Requirement – STG Charleston (Effective July 14, 2025)

June 30, 2025

Dear Business Partner,

Effective July 14, 2025, the Port of Charleston will require all in-bond IPI shipments bound for Charleston to be reported via email to 1601InBond@CBP.DHS.GOV prior to freight release from bonded facilities including STG Charleston.

Note: This applies only to inbound IPI cargo and does not affect direct ocean containers originating in Port of Charleston.

CBP will review submitted shipment data within two business days. As a result, you may see an increase in holds on STG IPI cargo arriving in Charleston from stations such as Compton and North Bergen. These holds ensure CBP has adequate time for review before they are released in Charleston.

To prepare, STG will begin following this process starting July 7, 2025, allowing for adjustments ahead of the official launch.

Hold statuses will be visible via your secure login on our website. If no action is required, STG Charleston will automatically release the hold. If CBP requires a physical inspection, a hold will be placed in ACE, visible to brokers, and the shipment will remain on hold until the inspection is complete in Charleston.

STG has implemented the necessary infrastructure and worked closely with CBP to ensure full compliance with this new process.

CBP has indicated that similar requirements may be rolled out at other CFS locations nationwide. STG will continue monitoring developments and will keep you informed of any changes.
