NOTICE: Rail Delay Expected Between New Jersey and Florida
Dear Business Partner,
CSX Transportation has advised a 24–48 hour transit increase on the railroad between New Jersey and Florida due to the closure of the Howard Street Tunnel (HST) in Baltimore. The tunnel originally opened in the late 1800s and has officially closed for reconstruction as part of an initiative to modernize the nearly 8,700-foot-long tunnel and enable double-stack intermodal service along CSX’s I-95 Rail Corridor.
With the project, CSX is not able to route through the tunnel during this period, and any traffic moving on the I-95 corridor between Florida, New Jersey and Baltimore on the I031/I032 will require different handling and routing. The completion of the project is scheduled by the end of 2025.
