NOTICE: Railroad Delays in LAX and HOU

October 22, 2024

Hi there,

We want to inform you about current congestion issues reported by Union Pacific Railroad (UP) in both Los Angeles, CA, and Houston, TX.

In Los Angeles, average dwell time has reached approximately five days. This congestion is primarily due to the recent ILA port strike, which has resulted in a diversion of cargo from East Coast to West Coast ports, along with high import volumes and increased domestic demand from the Los Angeles market. UP is implementing adjustments to address these challenges and expedite the resolution of congestion.

In Houston, we are experiencing significant delays at the ramp, with loads encountering 24-hour hold times before being placed on chassis.

Please note that these conditions will impact transit times, which are beyond STG’s control. However, we are actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to your local STG representative.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.
