NOTICE: Tornado Derails UP Train in Kansas – Updates 6.10

June 10, 2025

Dear Business Partner,

Please note that as of today, we are still awaiting Union Pacific to begin transloading the containers listed below so they can proceed to their final destinations.

In our ongoing conversations with UP, we have been advised that recovery efforts continue to face significant challenges. The combination of a large number of impacted containers (estimated about 200) and persistent heavy rainfall has made access to key areas of the site extremely difficult. These conditions have directly contributed to the extended delays in moving containers forward as equipment cannot enter the area during rainfall.

We have been informed this is one of the largest recovery operations the rail has undertaken in many years. While this provides important context, we fully recognize how difficult and frustrating this delay has been—for you, our valued customer, and for your customers awaiting the freight inside these trailers.

Please know that STG continues to actively engage with the rail and advocate for expedited recovery and resolution.

Current Status:
The impacted containers remain at the derailment site in Kansas, pending transload.
